About Our Technology Lab

KEYBOARDING

We are excited to utilize Keyboarding Without Tears in grades K through 5. We had an overwhelmingly positive response from students who loved that "it teaches more than just typing." To practice at home, go to KWT and type in the Educator PIN: B14FAE. Each student's secret code is the same as their Google Drive password. Please notify me if you have any issues utilizing this program at home.

GOOGLE DRIVE

Students in grades K-5 have their own Google Drive accounts and use them while learning word processing, formatting spreadsheets, and slideshows. In addition, we utilize Google Classroom for assignments and projects. Please contact me if your child experiences any login problems from home.

COMPUTER SCIENCE

Students in grades K-5 are fortunate enough to learn computer science on a variety of platforms. We are lucky to incorporate programming our Sphero indi robots, SPRK+ robots, and littleBits with our coding curriculum, with thanks to the Foundation of Denville. In addition, we utilize BBC's micro:bits in grades 3-5 with MSMakeCode. Each student has an individual account in Code.org. In order to access it at home, go to code.org and click Sign In. Then, click the green Continue with Google Button and sign in with your child's school Google Drive account. Students work both independently and together in the pair programming model and, in this fashion, progress at their own pace and with support. Please contact me if your child has any trouble accessing this account at home.

**There is no homework in the Technology Lab. However, if you would like to practice typing, coding, or any of the lessons during the school day at home, please sign in to your child's Tech Lab Google Classroom for directions and links to the classwork assignments.
